The Bait Of Satan (Week 1)
I held my first book club meeting last night and it was a success! Being able to fellowship with other like-minded women in the bodybuilding space has been a blessing. (Even if you aren't a bodybuilder, you're still welcome! While many of us connected through the fitness community, our main focus is bringing together women who have a heart for the Lord and desire to grow more with Him.) Click here for full reading plan.
In week 1, we read pages 1-43 (click here for the reading plan), and I must say I felt challenged within the first few pages of the book! I don't want to spoil it for you if you haven't read it yet, but it definitely made me think deeply about my heart's condition when I'm offended.
Check out the questions below. These are questions I asked myself as I was reading, and they make for great journal prompts.
Questions Week 1 pages 1-43
“You can’t see the true condition of your heart when pride takes over”. (page 8 The Cure) Think of a time you were offended and the offense turned into pride.
Have you ever justified your bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, envy, or resentment? (page 10 See Your True Condition)
Sometimes when we have been offended, we put of walls as a way to “protect” ourselves. Have you ever put up walls of protection after an offense? (Page 16)
“When we face the fact that God could have prevented our whole mess and didn’t, we often blame Him”. (Page 28) Have you ever blamed God for something not going right in your life?
“People who have been rejected by a father/mother, parental figure, or leader tend to take all the blame themselves”. (page 41) Have you ever taken the blame for something because you felt rejected?
When we repeat something to separate, damage relationships, or reputation, even though it is true, it is still an affront to God.” (page 43) Proverbs 6:16-19 NIV
16 There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community
Has someone ever offended you, and instead of retaliating, you let the Lord handle it?
I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Cast ☝🏾 More Net!
